The capsules are available in four strengths; 20mg, 40mg, 60mg, and 80mg. It is important to follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider. In certain cases, you may experience gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and heartburn.
The capsules are also available as an over-the-counter product (e.g., a prescription) and as a generic product (e.g., Nexium®).

Do not take Nexium if you are allergic to it or if you have ever had an allergic reaction to it or any other heartburn medication. This medicine will not help you if you are not allergic to the inactive ingredients in Nexium. Also, make sure to tell your doctor about any other heartburn medications you are taking. If you take other heartburn medications, tell your doctor about all the other heartburn medication you are taking. This may cause your heartburn to be more intense and make it more difficult to fall back to your usual diet.
Take one capsule a day. If you take one capsule a day, eat normally. Do not take a double or extra capsule of Nexium if you take two or more heartburn medications at the same time. This medication will not help you if you take one or more of these other heartburn medications. Also, make sure to tell your doctor about all the other heartburn medications you are taking. If you have any other health problems, such as or stomach ulcers, get medical help right away. You may need to wait for the heartburn medication to work for another 6-8 weeks before you start taking the Nexium medication.
This medication may make your stomach feel sick. Tell your doctor if any of these or any other serious side effects occur. Tell your doctor if you are taking any of these other heartburn medications.
Heartburn medicines may affect the way other medicines work and if you notice any other effects not listed here, talk to your doctor.
